Another Fruitful Day at Cookie Cafe!

We had another good day today with visits fro
m many professors and 347 Midshipmen. Cookies arrived in great shape and Lisa Donitz also contributed cookies to our supply, which was most appreciated. We were worried we would not have enough to make it to the end of the day, so we we asked the Midshipmen to just eat what they wanted at CC, but we did not put out baggies for them to take additional cookies with them. That plan worked out fine as we were left with only a few cookies at the end of the day. The fresh bagels all went as did all the extra baked goods I bought at Costco. The moms put butter and cream cheese on the bagels and then cut them up in quarters, so they went far. It all worked out just fine.
We baked during the day also, and the students loved coming in and smelling the freshly baked cookies. We had 2 boxes of cookies in the freezer of preformed cookies. One box came from the Restaurant Depot and everyone said they tasted really good.
The strawberries I was able to get at Costco were beautiful and all the fruit went again. The fruit has been a very good addition to CC, we are very indebted to the South Texas and Florida Parent Associations for providing the funds this year for fresh fruit!
I had one other idea for CC if we are short. We could buy a big bag of pancake mix, add chocolate chips and make silver dollar pancakes. I have a griddle that I could bring to school. The mix is very cheap and might be fun for the students. Just an idea if we are coming up short on cookies.
Baking at CC is a little bit of a challenge. We used both the commercial oven there and the regular oven. The commercial oven runs hot, so things burn fairly quickly. The regular gas oven runs cool, so things take twice as long. I think I might go see Steve in Delano and ask him how to use the commercial oven properly. There are probably some tricks we don't know about.
Overall, there is no doubt that CC is spreading goodwill on campus with both the students and the staff. We even got cookies from an Alumni parent Elsie Morrissey, whose son Paul Morrissey graduated from KP in 2007. How wonderful to continue to connect with a great mom. Would you ask her for his address as we would like to send him some cookies from CC? I think he is working for MSC and only gets home once a year. When he was at Kings Point there was no CC.
