What a hit Holiday Cookie Cafe was yesterday! The cookies from Florida were delicious, the hot mulled cider smelled up the whole place with a wonderful aroma. 466 students came, and some stayed all afternoon. They decorated the porcelain snowflake ornaments for girlfriends, Moms and sisters. The gingerbread houses turned out great, but it was more fun watching the groups make them, including Ursula's house that kept sliding apart! Cookie dough was available, made by Ellen Rice in the morning, for the students to roll, cut out with cookie cutters and decorate.

A new addition this year was hiring a DJ to do Karaoke with the group. Pam Bianco, who spearheaded the first Holiday Party and every year flies in from Florida to help out, put that together for us. The DJ was great, the students had so much fun, and so many participated. I had no idea the talent some of these students have!

Initially it must have appeared to the DJ that the Karaoke was going to bomb out. I had parameters that I gave him: no coarse language, no dirty jokes, no swearing, and he could see we had no alcohol. How could a party be successful with those things cut out??? Well the party was an absolute hit. The students had so much fun and everyone entered in. There was so much laughter. At the end of the day, the DJ commented about how well this went over, he loved it. He said that it was a real privilege to be there. He was also asked by Pam to come back next year.

This is our last Cookie Cafe until January 6th. Cookie Cafe is going strong and getting more popular. The families who come and help set up and run Cookie Cafe with us are invaluable. You parents are also invaluable with baking and keeping Cookie Cafe solvent with your money support. I wonder how many there are who are involved in this venture? Maybe Muffi could give us a rough count (I'm working on it! - Muffi). There has to be hundreds of us making this function.

If you are looking for a very delicious Eggnog Recipe for the holidays, I have that in the recipe section.

This Christmas Gene and I are celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary. I can't believe how fast that has gone and how wonderful it is. There is nothing that either of us would rather do then to help the midshipmen do well at Kings Point.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
