November 11th was an unusual Cookie Cafe. No sense getting stale by doing them all alike. First, we were not planning on having one that day since it was Veterans Day and the students had liberty. After we canvassed the students, they all wanted one. Muffi got busy and tapped into our invaluable resource from all over the U.S. called Cookie Angels. These are parents who will send cookies when we need extra. They more than exceeded our expectations. There were so many cookies that came in and they were absolutely a delicious group of cookies.

Cookie Cafe started so slow that we thought we had made a mistake. First we had a group come in looking very dashing in uniform. They were taking off for a parade in Baltimore but stopped to get their cookies first. Then another group came in just coming back from a parade in Oyster Bay. As the students trickled in at first we noticed a relaxedness and they spent a long time there. BUT then we had our comic relief. A group of plebes rushed in all out of breath. They were being punished for something one person in their company had done, and they had to muster every 20 minutes!! That gave them just enough time to run in, get cookies and milk, and run back for the next muster. This went on for most of the afternoon with that company. Another group of plebes came in a little more relaxed and complained to me that they had muster every hour. I told them they were lucky it wasn't every 20 minutes like another company and they laughed. All afternoon we had students coming in and staying a long time as they didn't have classes. I put on the movie "Blind Side" and they enjoyed watching that while eating their cookies. The atmosphere was wonderful and fun.

We had a girl who is considering coming the school stay for a while at Cookie Cafe. I love when that happens as they seem to always decide this is the school for them. Many times the student who is showing them around brings them over. Cookie Cafe and its atmosphere is a terrific recruitment tool for KP. We had 261 students which was a good group for a holiday, an overnight liberty, and parades they had to attend. Why am I apologizing? Last year I would have proudly crowed about we had a huge group of 261 students. You have no idea how much fun it is for us that you share your sons and daughters with us. They are an outstanding group of college students.
