Planning - by Muffi Grinnell

This is more about un-planning than planning....

In the considerable amount of emails that go back and forth each week between the parents who are signed up to sponsor cookies and parents who are jumping in for the first time, it can get a little hard at times for me to keep all the different details straight. Mostly because I can get pretty flaky. So a mom who is brand-new to baking for Cookie Cafe was telling me about her son, since I wanted to know how he was doing. Sounded to me like he is doing very well, but mom kind of missed seeing his smile. "No problem!", I replied, "I'll ask Lisa to watch for him and take a picture!" This was going to work out just great.

Except I forgot to mention it to Lisa, and Cookie Cafe came and went. I felt terrible about it, but what do you think happened when I looked through the photos Lisa sent me that night? There he was! Big happy smile and a perfect photograph. Just made to order. So it was meant to be. (Thank you, Lisa!) Needless to say, mom was very thrilled when she received the photo, and Lisa was so happy to make a mom's day. It's the little stuff that is so important!

The DAY - by Martha McCann

We had a very good day and very busy. About 410 Mids. Some cookies left, but not much. Went through all 13 gallons of milk. We baked cookies on site for the first time, although I found the oven a little difficult to regulate. All the fruit was taken and the students seem to love it. Overall, it was a wonderful day!

Cookie Cafe Crew is great - and we were all happy to see Betsy back, who said she is coming again next week. What wonderful friends we have all made! Denise, Gale and I were there to lock up. Betsy even offered to come back at 4 to help clean up, but we did just fine. I hated to have her make the trip back.

Fr. Koch came and brought the new Protestant chaplain, Chaplain Lopez. He couldn't believe that the Mids would actually eat all the cookies we had out. Hope to see more of him. Several teachers also showed up.

A worker from the cleaning company come in with Lisa Donitz yesterday and said we leave the place so clean that it doesn't even look like anyone had been there. We told him to let the chain of command know that we KP moms know how to leave a place ship shape!
